TOP GPL Freaks Questions Answered

We have gotten a lot of questions from people who have genuine concerns about the resources and codes we share here on GPL freaks. They ask questions such as:

  • Is it safe to use Plugins and themes from GPL Freaks?
  • is it Legal or Can I get sued for using nulled WordPress plugins?
  • Can I use a WordPress theme for my website or for clients’ websites I got from GPLFreaks?
  • Why do you share these resources?

As programmers, theme, and plugin developers, we decided to address this concern once and for all in this blog post.

Is it safe to use plugins and themes from GPL Freaks?

The straight answer is Yes! All our Premium WordPress Plugins and Premium WordPress themes are scanned and analyzed before we share them.

It is important to understand that while we take extra measures to ensure the validity of every resource we share at the time of posting, we only curate these resources and the original author can change them. So, if you find any virus or bad codes, please notify us immediately.

Is it Legal or Can I get sued for using nulled WordPress plugins?

As long as a theme or plugin is GPL then you won’t get sued, what you are doing is perfectly ok. WordPress is GPL, all derivative products are therefore GPL and free to use, reuse, redistribute, or whatever.

You can edit them, customize them or improve them by adding your own functionality. You can send them to your friends. What you are really paying for when you buy a premium GPL plugin is access to updates and support. Many developers want the best of both worlds. Take advantage of the GPL/open source WordPress and have derivative products like plugins that are not GPL.

While GPL is free, people have trademarks, etc. on their brand name and images. It is wrong to be selling someone else premium products by name and riding those coattails. So sharing is why GPL was created and the reason WordPress is so successful.

Can I use a WordPress theme for my website or for clients’ websites I got from GPLFreaks?

The answer is Yes and No.

If you are building a personal website for non-commercial reasons, or for school, or as a test project, then you can go ahead and leverage our resources.

YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO USE OUR WORDPRESS RESOURCES ON A CLIENT’S WEBSITE.

Please always charge your clients separately for WordPress themes, images, and plugins that will be needed on their websites. You can however use our plugins and themes to create demos and also to test if it is the right fit for the client. As soon as you figure out the plugins that will be needed, go ahead and purchase a license from the theme or plugin vendor.

Why do you share these resources?

Sharing is caring.

Also with lots of nulled sites out there, shipping malware and virus, we decided to create a place where people can test GPL resources and discuss about it, without having to pay a dime or be afraid of viruses and malware.
